The main objectives of the project are the research, development, production of a working sample and prototype of a tractor balancer equipped with a hybrid traction chassis drive with electrical energy storage and a sophisticated control system. The energy generated during downhill driving, which is normally converted (diluted) into heat during mechanical braking, will be stored in a battery by this system. This energy will then be used to electrically drive the double axle of the balancing tractor. The installation of the electric drive on the VTS double axle will increase the maximum power input of the undercarriage drive of the transport machine, mainly in extreme terrain conditions of the forest plantations, equipped with GPS/Glonas navigation systems for the preparation of forest plantations by forest owners and TDS operators.
